Community, Culture and Identity (CCI) is a level 2 #OpenMedia module on the BA (Hons) Photography in the School of Media and Performing Arts at Coventry University. The module explores ideas of representation and translation as a starting point for the research and production of an extended body of work.
The aim is to encourage participants to explore how to locate their practice alongside improving their research skills. Experimenting with different storytelling methods that draw from ethnographic & photographic methodologies the participants are encouraged to investigate new ways of working. Using a wide variety of practices and contexts, ranging from official identification portraiture, the archive, fashion and advertising, the family album and online networks, through to work that seeks to show situations or communicate ideas about the social, political and economic circumstances that shape human experience.
Community, Culture and Identity seeks to enable students to technically and conceptually resolve a body of work through a rigorous process of research, development and experimentation. Check out our Google+ community, visitors and new contributors are welcome.
